According to the New York Post, actress Gina Gershon definitely looks the part of Donatella Versace for Lifetime’s “House of Versace” movie.
The 51-year-old actress got the part in the film that documents the rise and fall of Donatella after losing her designer brother, Gianni Versace in 1997. It was announced that Gershon got the role in early August. In an interview with New York Post Gershon admits that she hasn’t met Donatella but tried her best to capture her ‘larger-than-life’ personality. “She goes through an evolution — she physically changes, as we all know, through the years and it was important to be as truthful about that as possible,” Gershon said. “Her physicality is so different from mine; the way she stands and walks and speaks. It was a good exercise in concentration for me in trying to maintain that truthfulness.”
For the look, the actress wore a blonde wig, heavy eye make-up and stuffed cotton under her lip to get them pouty as possible. “It’s more of a personal story and not as broad as everyone thinks it will be. It’s such a compelling story about Donatella getting out from under her brother’s shadow — and, because of that shadow, also finding her own voice.”
The film premieres on the Lifetime Network Oct 5.
